In a collaborative operation between the Delhi Police's Crime Branch and the Bihar Police, four notorious gang members from the Ranjan Pathak-Manish Pathak gang were killed during an encounter early Thursday morning in Rohini, Delhi. The confrontation occurred around 2:20 AM on Bahadur Shah Marg, between Dr. Ambedkar Chowk and Pansali Chowk. Authorities reported that the suspects were allegedly planning a major criminal attack ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
Police Pursuit Leads to Fatal Encounter
According to a senior police official, the suspects had been hiding in Delhi for several days. A joint team launched a search operation late Tuesday and Wednesday night, which culminated in the encounter. During the operation, the suspects opened fire on the police, prompting a defensive response that resulted in injuries to all four gang members.
Identification of Deceased Criminals
The deceased have been identified as Ranjan Pathak, Vimalesh Mahto, Manish Pathak, and Aman Thakur, all wanted for serious crimes including murder and extortion. Following the encounter, the injured criminals were transported to a hospital in Rohini, where they were pronounced dead by medical staff. Police sources indicated that Ranjan Pathak was the leader of an organized crime network operating in Bihar and neighboring states.
